The Chuan Whisky: China's First Single Malt Whisky

The Chuan Whisky is the debut single malt whisky released by the Emei Mountain Distillery, built by Pernod Ricard in Sichuan, China. The distillery began distillation in August 2021 and was completed in November of the same year, with an investment of $150 million USD. The uniqueness of The Chuan Whisky lies in its use of three different oak casks for maturation, including the rare Chinese single oak cask from Changbai Mountain, imparting sandalwood and orange peel flavors to the spirit.

Fusion of Three Oak Casks' Flavors

During the maturation process, The Chuan Whisky utilizes oak casks from three continents: North American bourbon casks, European sherry casks, and Chinese single oak casks from Changbai Mountain. The bourbon casks contribute vanilla and fruity aromas, the sherry casks add sweetness, and the Changbai Mountain oak casks impart sandalwood and orange peel flavors, creating a rich and layered taste profile.
